Already the UK’s biggest and best Vauxhall event and in it’s 11th year, the Performance Vauxhall Show is one day of 100% high octane Vauxhall action!

As always, the legendary Santa Pod drag strip will be at the heart of PV show, with non-stop head-to-head action. Expect to see the UK’s best Vauxhall’s setting some blistering quarter mile times in the Vauxhall-only Run What Ya Brung, as well as some spectacular shoot out competitions and demo runs from some of the top Vauxhall drag cars in the country as well as the world famous 336mph FireForce 3 Jet Car.

If the drag strip action isn’t enough to satisfy your appetite for high-octane exhilaration, there will also be a full timetable of live action and entertainment taking place off the strip including autocross demos on the rally stage, off-road demos, the PV drift taxis, extreme stunt shows which will have you on the edge of your seat and much, much more!

Away from the track action, the massive club area will feature every kind of performance and modified Vauxhall – from stripped out 11-second Novas, incredibly-styled Corsa and Astra show cars to the rapid VXR’s, powerful VX220’s and the legendary Lotus Carlton. PV Show 2012 will also play host to some amazing celebratory displays including a Retro Zone for classic Vauxhalls, a Rare and Endangered Vauxhall display and a collection of Vauxhall Race cars from the past and present which will also take to the strip in the ‘Unlikely Suspects’ feature!

Also, don’t forget the Total Vauxhall magazine stand which will as usual be displaying some of its favourite feature cars from the past year.

Camping is available on Saturday for £7. Plus on the Saturday 9th June, Santa Pod will be running a general Run What Ya Brung which is £35 for unlimited runs from 10:00 – 17:00. After 5 we’ll be putting on a Vauxhall only RWYB warm up from 17:00 – 20:00, priced at £10 for unlimited runs.

There was an intoxicating mix of track action, club displays and famous race drivers. All combined to create a unique atmosphere and a very special Vauxhall event.

BTCC racers James Nash and Tony Gilham took to the circuit in their Triple Eight BTCC Vectras, and they didn’t hold back either, hell no, at one point they were trading paint!

Just as epic was Ric Wood in his DTM Astra, the MD of CNC Heads races his V8-powered, 585 bhp monster in the Dutch Supercar Challenge and regularly humbles exotic Dodge Vipers and Moslers. And it was great to see it hooning around Castle Combe.

Headline show sponsors Courtenay Sport had a bustling stand, packed with an excellent range of performance Vauxhalls and plenty of knowledgeable chaps to help answer all your tuning queries.

One of our highlights of the show though was the astonishing 28 Lotus Carltons that were assembled by the Autobahnstormers to celebrate the car’s 21st birthday. The cars even took to the circuit for a special display lap, it was some sight we tell thee!

Auto Series sponsors Adrian Flux were also on hand, giving out free quotes and challenging people to take on their giant Scalextric and come say hello to the lovely Flux Babes. The Flux Babes tirelessly walked around the entire show and finally chose the VVOC as winners of the Adrian Flux Best Club Stand who were presented at the end of the day with a rather nice trophy.

Now standard Signums are rare enough, but modified ones are almost non-existent. So it was no surprise that Aaron Taylor’s Vauxhall Signum decked using Rayvern Hydraulics over a set of Image wheels, 8×16 at the front and 9×16 at the rears won the converted Power & Style Awards in association with Yokohama.

Other features included the awesome Westfield passenger rides in the Live Action Arena, the Official Partner Showcase & Retail Village featuring Meguiar’s, STP, Milltek, TSW and Maxxis.

The team is headed by Ian Harrison as Chairman with Les Jones as Sporting Director. Both are former Williams F1 personnel and both have presided over a number of Grand Prix wins and World Championships between them.

All of the Triple Eight’s wins and titles came as Vauxhall’s works team and every Vauxhall that has appeared in Britain’s premier racing series since 1996 has been designed and built in the team’s factory at Greatworth, near Silverstone in Northamptonshire.



Triple Eight’s first win came courtesy of driver John Cleland at Donington Park in April 1998 driving a Vauxhall Vectra. Cleland of course is another guest appearing today at Total Vauxhall Live.

Unfortunately, Vauxhall were forced to withdraw from the BTCC at the end of 2009 due to the world economic crisis.  While former double Champion Fabrizio Giovanardi secured a pair of wins in a one-off drive at the opening event at the beginning of the 2010 season, since then times for the team have been rather challenging.

However, a switch to a new turbocharged engine in the team’s Vauxhalls at the start of this season has heralded a positive change in fortune for Triple Eight. Promising young driver James Nash, who joined Triple Eight partway through last season has been joined in the team this year by Porsche Carrera Cup GB graduate Tony Gilham. Though he is still to secure his maiden win, (which is surely due) Nash has already this season placed second three times and at one stage even led the Championship table, while Gilham has enjoyed an impressive start to his BTCC career with a good number of points scoring top ten results.

With exactly half of the season still to run Nash arrives at Castle Combe in fifth place in the overall standings, one place ahead of reigning BTCC champion Jason Plato. Team-mate Gilham is currently the second top rookie in the series while the team lies third in the Independent teams award.

Both drivers are determined to improve their own positions further when the series resumes after its summer break at Snetterton next weekend, and of course, to return a Triple Eight Vauxhall to the winner’s circle.

As well as the racing stars, there will be plenty of BTCC metal on display and in action at the show, incuding Cleland’s iconic Cav, both 888 engineering cars and one of the current Pirtek Racing cars!
